Committees
The Lexington Ad Club's committees allow our members to develop
leadership, mentoring and networking opportunities and contribute
their creative ideas and expertise. To join a committee, please

ADDY Awards
2008-2009 ADDY Awards Chairs: Stephanie Shrewsbury and Linda
Hurst; Judging Chair: Charlotte Caldwell
This committee arranges and produces the local competition and awards
ceremony of the annual National AAF American Advertising ADDY®
Awards, to recognize creative excellence in advertising, and advances
ADDY® winners forward to the District ADDY® competition.
The ADDY® Awards generates non-dues revenue for the Club from
proceeds of entry fees, ceremony attendance fees, awards booklet
advertising and other sources as may be appropriate.
Club Achievement Awards
2008-2009 Club Achievement Awards Chair: Otto Pittner
This committee coordinates documentation of all club activities
and prepares entries for the annual AAF Club Achievement Awards.
Winning clubs are recognized at the annual AAF National Conference
and receive cash awards.
Communications
2008-2009 Communications Chair: Kendal Butler
This committee handles communications via the clubs web site,
email, phone and printed materials, working closely with the Programs
committee to plan and develop policies and programs to ensure effective
communication between members and the Board of Directors, and between
the Club and Fifth District AAF, and National AAF. The committee
is responsible for the official publication(s) of the Club, for
securing positive publicity, and to plan and develop ways to promote
community and civic projects.
Education
2008-2009 Education Chair: Mark Stuhlfaut
This committee provides continuing advertising education opportunities
for practitioners, assists AAF College Chapters in Kentucky, and
provides positive educational opportunities about advertising for
the public and government sectors of our economy.
Finance
2008-2009 Finance Committee Chair: Debi Farlow
This committee prepares an annual Club budget, supervises the
finances of the Club, and prepares all financial statements.
Fundraising/Social Events/Special Events
2008-2009 Fundraising/Social Events/Special Events Chairs: LeAnn
Norton and Cheri McMullen
This committee develops and plans Club fundraising activities
and events, and supervises and promotes social activities and special
events of the club.
Government Relations
2008-2009 Government Relations Chairs: Haley Dickerson and David Stout
This committee studies and reports to the Board of Directors any
proposed national, state or local legislation affecting advertising
in any of its forms, and recommends action by the Club, if appropriate.
The committee represents the Lexington Ad Club in advertising industry
trade groups whose purposes are to educate elected and appointed
government officials about the economic benefits of advertising
and to oppose harmful actions to the practice of advertising in
business by legislation.
Membership
2008-2009 Membership Chair: Ashley Landis
This committee retains existing members, secures additional
members, processes membership applications for Board of Directors
approval, and introduces new members to current members.
Nomination
This committee prepare a slate of nominees per Article XI Section1
of the Club's ByLaws. Members of this committee shall be the President-elect,
two members of the Past Presidents' Council as elected by the Past
Presidents' Council, and two Active or Life members as selected
by the President. If the President-elect is fulfilling the unexpired
term of the President then that person shall be qualified to be
on the Nominating Committee.
Parliamentary/Bylaws
2008-2009 Parliamentary/Bylaws Chair: Denise McClelland
This committee ensures all business conducted by the Club is done
in accordance with the Bylaws, exercises oversight and review of
the bylaws to be certain they are current and accurate, fulfills
the laws and regulations of the state of incorporation, the objectives
and needs of the Club, and analyzes proposed amendments to be certain
they are proper and compatible with all provisions of the bylaws
and the overall interests of the Club and the American Advertising
Federation. The Committee membership may include one member from
the Past Presidents' Council.
Programs
2008-2009 Programs Chair: Brittney Edwards
This committee arranges programs and speakers for all Club meetings,
promotes attendance, makes facilities arrangements, and handles
reservations and reception for Club meetings and events.
Public Service/Awareness
2008-2009 Public Service/Awareness Chair: To be announced
This committee develops a public service/awareness campaign to educate
the public about the value of advertising and to promote the Lexington
Advertising Club.
Silver Medal Award
2008-2009 Silver Medal Award Chair: Ron Gilbert
This committee conducts the annual search for a possible deserving
candidate and arranges for presentation of the AAF Silver Medal
Award by the Club when appropriate.
Truth in Advertising
2007-2008 Truth in Advertising Chair: Heather Clary
This committee works with the Better Business Bureau of Central
Kentucky on their Truth in Advertising initiative.
