The Lexington Advertising Club has joined with Commerce Lexington
to create a logo for the Bluegrass Region, on behalf of the Regional
Branding Group. The deadline is March 30, 2007.
In June 2006 the Commerce Lexington Leadership Visit was to Oklahoma
City; out of this trip came the creation of Strategic Doing groups.
One of these groups is titled the Regional Branding Group, which
has been charged with coming up with a brand to include a
tagline and logo for the Bluegrass Region. Meetings have been held
since June on this and the other parts of the Strategic Doing areas.
Research and opinion polls have been conducted by the Lexington
Convention and Visitors Bureau and Preston-Osborne. As a result,
they have come up with the tagline "It's Better in the Bluegrass"
and they now need a logo to go with this.
The logo contest is open only to Lexington Advertising Club
members. All interested Ad Club members are invited to take
part in this contest by submitting as many logo designs they would
like. A subcommittee of the Regional Branding Group will select
between 3 and 5 designs it thinks are most appropriate and put them
out to the public to select the final design. While there will be
no compensation for the initial submissions, the winning design
will receive $1000.

This branding campaign will serve the Bluegrass region for many
years to market our area to attract visitors. We look forward to

"It's Better in the Bluegrass" Logo Contest Details
Overview:
The Regional Branding Group of the Strategic Doing Group has selected
a branding slogan of "It's Better in the Bluegrass." Now
it is time to develop a logo that can be used for regional promotions
with this slogan.
Calling All Designers:
The Regional Branding Group wishes to work with the Lexington Ad
Club members to solicit logo designs that can be reviewed and then
select the most appropriate design for its campaign and promotions.
Research conducted for the branding effort will be shared with all
interested designers.
Timeline:
Anyone wishing to submit a design for the regional brand has until
March 30, 2007. At that time, a sub-committee of the Regional Branding
Group will select between three and five designs it thinks are most
appropriate and put it out to the public to select the final design.
The committee hopes to have a final design selected by May 2007.
Compensation:
There will be no compensation for initial submissions but the winning
design will receive $1,000 and bragging rights. The design chosen
will be the property of Commerce Lexington and the Regional Branding
Group for its unlimited use. The winning creator will retain portfolio
and ADDY® entry rights.
Submission Specifications:
Logos should be submitted in hard copy format, mounted on black
boards no more than 8.5 by 11 inches in size. Each logo should be
mounted individually. Electronic versions should also be submitted
on a CD. Each logo should be shown in one color (black) and full-color.
Considerations should be made for a logo that works in a large and
small scale, and across all media print, television, and
electronic.
All boards and CDs must be unmarked, without any identifying labels
or names, and inside an envelope with the company name and contact
information marked on the outside. All entries will be coded so
the reviewing committee will not have any idea who the designers
of the logos are while they are being reviewed.
